Irtiqaa Schools

A new school, in a complex that was empty land not long ago. Parents need to see the place, trust it, and find the stages, curriculum, fees and how to register, in Arabic, on their phones.

• A scroll story made from the school's own drone footage. Scrolling flies over the Al-Farouq complex, the captions from the school's reel appear one by one, and the empty land becomes the school.
• The school's logo in 3D at the top: the book opens and its gold rays rise, built with three.js.
• A theme we called Lapis tile, from Iraq's glazed tiles: lapis blue, turquoise, tile gold and whitewash. Photos sit in arches like the building's windows, with bands of eight-point stars between sections.
• Headings in Reem Kufi and text in IBM Plex Sans Arabic, right to left throughout.
• A calm version for devices set to reduce motion, with a button that plays the drone tour.

Scroll-driven video is where phones, and iPhones most of all, fall apart. We re-encoded the footage with a key frame every ten frames, load it once and play it from memory, and start seeking as soon as the video's size is known, so the story follows the finger smoothly.
